FARMINGTON, CT — A 33-year-old Massachusetts woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night on Interstate 84 in Farmington.
According to Connecticut State Police, the victim is identified as Tiarra Thomas, 33, of Springfield, Mass.
The accident happened in the westbound side of the highway at 10:26 p.m., according to a state police accident report released Wednesday morning.
According to police, a 2015 Ford Edge sport utility vehicle was traveling in the westbound side of I-84 in the left lane of a three-lane highway.
Police said, “for an unknown reason,” Thomas lost control of her vehicle and traveled into the left shoulder and into a metal beam guardrail.
The Ford then went through the guardrail, entered the grassy median and came to an uncontrolled rest in the median, reads the accident report.
Police did not indicate the nature of the crash, but some reports indicated the vehicle may have rolled over with the driver ejected.
According to police, Thomas sustained serious injuries and was taken to Hartford Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police are investigating the crash and asking for the public’s help, including those who may have captured on their dashcam video the crash scene after it happened, the crash itself or the vehicle traveling just prior to the accident.
Any witness to the accident is asked to contact Trooper Michael Dean at Troop H in Hartford at 860-534-1098 or via email at michael.dean@ct.gov.
