Police confirm a 44-year-old woman has died in the hospital after a crash shut down all lanes of eastbound Interstate 580 in Oakland Tuesday morning.
OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) — Police say a 44-year-old woman has died after a crash shut down all lanes of eastbound Interstate 580 in Oakland Tuesday morning.
The fiery crash happened around 11 a.m. and briefly shut down all eastbound lanes near Fruitvale Avenue in Oakland, authorities say.
Police say an SUV collided with a Chevy Volt.

The SUV burst into flames– catching fire to some shrubs and trees. The SUV driver escaped without injury.
The victim in the Chevy Volt was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland where she later died from her injuries.
Her identity has not been released.
