Two people were killed early Sunday in a single-vehicle crash on Snouffer Road near Gray Gables Lane on the Northwest Side.
At 2:48 a.m., Brandon Thornton, 30, of Columbus, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse eastbound on Snouffer Road, passing through the Gray Gables Lane intersection, when he lost control of the vehicle, according to Columbus police reports.
After crossing northeast over the westbound lane of Snouffer Road and continuing onto the grassy roadside, the vehicle then struck a metal communications box before crashing into a tree on the north side of the roadway.

Thornton was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His front seat passenger, McKenzie Egnor, 30, of Lewis Center, was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
An unidentified male passenger in the rear seat was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
The Columbus police Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
