Two people are dead and three others were severely injured in a severe crash that was caused by alleged street racing.
Police say two cars were racing on Louisiana Boulevard south of Comanche Road in northeast Albuquerque. While the cars were driving at a high speed, they crashed into a third car that entered the intersection of Louisiana Blvd. and Delwood Road. The driver of the car that was hit was killed and two 14-year-old children were injured.
Police say the driver of one of the cars involved in the alleged street race was killed and the passenger of that car was injured.
The people in the second car, including a child, also suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Police investigators say Andy Doreste-Saumell was arrested and charged with homicide by vehicle, reckless driving, child abuse, and racing on streets. He was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.
