TUKWILA, Wash. — Emergency crews responded to a fatal single-car crash in Tukwila almost eight hours after it happened on Sunday night. Neighbors say the crash essentially fell into a blind spot.
Officers with the Tukwila Police Department responded to the scene on South 128th Street, east of Military Road South on Monday morning. They found three people dead and another trapped inside the vehicle.
Investigators said it appears the crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Despite having a surveillance camera pointed at the intersection, neighbor Juan Mendoza says they did not capture anything on video and is surprised he couldn’t see anything.
“A car came flying by, there was a hit, but when I came out I didn’t see anything. But on these streets people drive crazy,” he said in Spanish.
He says in the 16 years he’s lived here he’s seen his fair share of crashes and near misses at this very intersection.
Two of the people who died appeared to have been thrown from the vehicle, according to Tukwila police. A third deceased person was found inside.
Officers found a fourth person inside who had to be extricated and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Tukwila police.
Police said processing the scene would take several hours to complete and warned that the road would closed intermittently.
