AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A pedestrian died in a crash on Bobby Jones Expressway at Sand Bar Ferry Road on Wednesday morning.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to I-520 eastbound at the Sand Bar Ferry Road and Laney Walker Boulevard exit in reference to a traffic accident with injuries at 3:21 a.m.
The victim was identified as Garret Stroud, 36, of Augusta, according to Coroner Mark Bowen, who said Stroud was hit by an eastbound vehicle.
He was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:05 a.m.
The Richmond County Traffic Division is investigating the accident.
All eastbound lanes were closed, but were back open by 6:17 a.m.
