New City crash claims one life – The Journal News

CLARKSTOWN − One person died and two others were sent to a hospital after a two-car crash on Route 304 in Clarkstown late Friday morning.
Clarkstown police said the crash happened at about 11:50 a.m. in the vicinity of Route 304 and East Phillips Hill Road in the town’s New City area.
Police said the first officers on the scene found two heavily-damaged vehicles: a Hyundai Elantra in the middle of Route 304 and a Toyota Highlander in the wooded area adjacent to the highway’s northbound lanes.
New City firefighters extricated the two occupants of the Toyota. They were treated by members of the New City and Congers ambulance corps and Rockland Paramedics and then taken to an area hospital.

The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver’s name was not released pending notification of next of kin.
Police said that area of Route 304 will be closed for several hours while they conduct an investigation.
