Man dies in one-car crash in Painesville – The News-Herald

A Painesville Township man has died after losing control of his car and hitting a telephone pole in Painesville.

On Sept. 11 at approximately 11:57 p.m., Painesville Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident on Brookstone Boulevard, according to a city news release. The preliminary investigation revealed the 20-year-old in a red 2007 Honda Accord traveled eastbound on Brookstone at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle at a curve in the road.
According a news release, the vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway, struck and sheared off a telephone pole and rolled over a small wooded area and ravine, where it came to rest. The driver was wearing a seatbelt but died of his injuries at the scene.
The Lake Regional Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to assist with the crash investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
Authorities say the name of the driver will not be released at this time.
