A multi-vehicle collision occurred Saturday night just west of Stateline Road
A Kansas City man is dead, and several others are hurt after a seven-car crash on I-435 last night.
It happened around 6 p.m. West of Stateline Road on Saturday Oct. 22, 2023.
Video, which can be watched in the video player above, shows the huge backup caused by the crash last night.
Three cars were stopped on the inside shoulder. The Kansas Highway Patrol didn’t say why they were on the side of the road.
As traffic slowed due to the stalled vehicles on the side of the interstate, a fourth car changed lanes — hitting a car and a semi-truck on the interstate.
That semi then hit two other cars after it was hit.
The crash killed 69-year-old Randal Hammonds of Kansas City, Missouri, who was in one of the vehicles stalled on the side of the interstate when the collisions began.
