A celebration of life service has been set for an Isabella County man who died Monday, two days after he was in a traffic accident north of Mt. Pleasant.
Visitation for Alan Richard Leach, 55, of Weidman will be at the Clark Family Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Mt. Pleasant at 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at 11 a.m., with Ben Evers officiating.
Born Jan. 29, 1968 in Muskegon, Leach was the son of Richard and Judy (Birge) Leach and served in the United States Air Force.
He married Annie Stratton Aug. 24, 2015 and worked as a taxi driver for Stargazers for more than five years.
Leach enjoyed watching dirt track races, hockey, football, UFC fights, and birds in nature.
He loved fishing, boating and spending time with his dogs, but spending time with his family was most important to Leach.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Leach died Monday at MyMichigan Medical Center-Midland, where he was taken after treatment Saturday night at a Mt. Pleasant emergency room.
Leach was treated for head injuries and other trauma after crashing into a tree along Weidman Road near Old Mission Road in Isabella Township at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday while trying to avoid a collision with a car that was turning in to a driveway, Isabella County Sheriff Michael Main said in a press release Monday.
Two passengers, a 45-year-old woman and a 4-year-old girl, whose names were not released, and Leach were trapped in the vehicle and were taken to local emergency rooms after being extracted from the car, Main said.
Relatives contacted the sheriff’s department Monday to notify them that Leach died, Main said.
The accident remains under investigation.
State police from the Mt. Pleasant post, the Isabella Northeast Fire Department and Mobile Medical Response assisted at the scene.
