Burrillville police Chief Stephen Lynch said that two people were killed in a single-car crash on Friday.
The crash was reported at around 3:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Lapham Farm Road.
The driver, 19-year-old Andrew Long of Chepachet, drove off the road, hitting a tree. Long was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, 18-year-old Ariel Welch of Mapleville, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where she later died.
Police said speed is thought to be a factor in the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
