Officials say a 2014 Porche 911 was traveling west on Brawley School Road, drove off the road, hit a tree and then collided with a rock landscaping wall.
The driver, Stella Grace Bright, 16, from Mooresville, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Two juvenile passengers in the car were taken to the hospital with injuries. Bright and the front passenger were restrained by a seatbelt. One of the juveniles was sitting in the back of the car, which was not designed for passengers and unrestrained, according to officials.
During the on-scene investigation, Brawley School Road was closed in the area for three hours. Investigators indicated excessive speed to be the contributing circumstance in the collision.
