Eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 90 are closed Wednesday after a fatal car crash on the Escambia River Bridge.
A Florida Highway Patrol news release noted that the crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. about a mile west of Treasure Bay Circle. The release notes there is a fatality and multiple injuries, and that the incident remains under investigation.
According to Santa Rosa County spokeswoman Sarah Whitfield, roughly three to four cars crashed on Highway 90 near Jim’s Fish Camp, and a Santa Rosa County release states at least one person died on scene.

“It involved three to four cars, but they don’t have a final count,” Whitfield told the News Journal. “Two people were transported to a local hospital.”
Whitfield also said that as of 2:45 p.m., eastbound lanes were likely to be closed for two hours.
