Motorists are facing huge queues as the busy road has been closed to traffic by the gardai following an incident
One person has been hospitalised following a horror crash in south Dublin.
Gardai are still at the scene of the incident on the N81 that happened earlier this evening. The collision occurred at the Whitestown Way junction on the busy road.
The N81 outbound road remains closed and motorists have been urged to avoid certain areas in Dublin following a serious crash. Traffic is extremely heavy in Templeogue, Tallaght, Greenhills, and Firhouse.
Motorists have been advised to use the local diversions that are currently in place.

A spokesman said: "Road users can expect delays and are asked to plan their journeys accordingly." Dublin Live has contacted the gardai for additional information.
In other news, a crash on St John's Road inbound at Heustion Station is blocking the bus lane. Over 170 traffic hams have been reported across the capital at this current moment.

The serious crash happened earlier this evening at the Whitestown Way junction of the N81 in Tallaght. Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade were alerted to the scene of the incident.

Motorists have been asked to avoid a number of Dublin areas due to massive tailbacks caused by a collision in the southside.
The serious crash happened at the Whitestown Way junction of the N81 resulting in the busy road being sealed off by gardai. People have been asked to avoid areas like Templogue, Tallaght, Greenhills, and Firhouse due to heavy queues.
Services through Raheny have been suspended due to a trespasser on the line.
Gardai are on the way to the incident.
A collision on the M11 southbound before Junction 5 Bray north blocking the central median is sticking out a little into the right lane.
Motorists have been asked to take care when passing.
The M50 northbound off-ramp at Junction 11 is being closed off due to the serious collision on the N81.
Gardai are currently at the scene of the incident. Huge tailbacks have been reported in the area.
A crash has been reported on the M50 northbound between Junction 12 Firhouse and Junction 11 Tallaght.
There is extremely heavy traffic on the northbound and southbound off-ramps at Junction 12 Firhouse with tailbacks stretching from Ballyboden Way/Scholarstown Road outbound all the way through to a heavy Firhouse Road.
Motorists on the N81 outbound at the M50 junction are facing queues stretching all the way back to back to Bushy Park.
