One person is in critical condition following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of US 60 East and Hawes Boulevard late Tuesday morning.
DCSO, the Thruston and Daviess County fire departments, and AMR Ambulance were all dispatched to a two-vehicle collision at approximately 11:30 a.m.
According to DCSO, a van was traveling westbound on US 60 East in the right lane, approaching the intersection of Hawes Boulevard. A car was northbound on Hawes Boulevard and was attempting to cross the intersection of the highway.
Per the release, the driver of the car pulled out in front of the van, and the front of the van struck the passenger side of the car. After the initial collision, the car went off the northwest side of the intersection.
The male driver of the car was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and was later flown to the University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition, according to a release. The man’s name has not been released.
DCSO officials said the driver of the van, who they identified as 28-year-old Dylan Jones of Owensboro, refused medical transport.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to DCSO. The investigation is ongoing by the DCSO reconstruction unit.
