Penfield, N.Y. — Traffic is closed in the area of Empire Boulevard and Plank Road following a crash Wednesday morning.
The crash appears to have involved a commercial van and an SUV that turned over on its side. The report of the crash came in shortly before 10:30 a.m.
Police said one vehicle hit a utility pole and caused a "chain reaction" on other poles, knocking out power in the area.
RG&E reported thousands of customers without power in Penfield and Webster, but it had been restored to many of them by early Wednesday afternoon.
Empire Boulevard is expected to remain closed between Creek Street and State Route 590 through Wednesday night as crews work to fix utility poles.
Police said a medical condition may have led to the crash, but no serious injuries were reported.
