FLINT, MI — The KFC restaurant on the northeast corner of the Dort Highway and Lapeer Road intersection was temporarily closed Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle drove through a window and into the building’s lobby.
The vehicle, an unmarked Flint police unit, was northbound on Dort Highway near Lapeer Road when a southbound vehicle turned east in front of it around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, according to Flint Police Sgt. Tyrone Booth.
To avoid crashing into the other vehicle, the officer drove up on the curb and hit the KFC building, Booth said.
“We are happy that no one was injured during the crash,” Booth said.  “As warmer weather approaches, we would like to remind drivers to pay full attention while operating vehicles.  Distracted drivers place all motorists at risk.”
Authorities were on scene for about two hours prior to the light-colored Chrysler 300C being pulled from the building.
A sign on the front door of the fast food restaurant read, “I’m sorry but we are currently closed.”
The KFC restaurant is no stranger to vehicles finding their way into the building.
