Barberton man dead in one-vehicle crash on Center Road in New … – Akron Beacon Journal

The Ohio State Highway Patrol suspects that alcohol contributed to the death of a man whose SUV swerved off Center Road and struck a tree early Sunday morning.
The crash happened at 7:45 a.m. on Center Road, just west of Eastview Drive, in New Franklin, according to a lieutenant with the Akron post of the Highway Patrol. William J. Boggs, 36, of Barberton, was declared dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the one-vehicle accident, the highway patrol said.
According to police, Boggs was heading west on Center Road when he lost control of the 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander he was driving. Boggs was not wearing a seat belt. He sustained fatal injuries when his SUV went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
New Franklin police and fire assisted on scene. The accident remains under investigation. The State Highway Patrol said, “alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.”
