APD: Passenger in West Asheville car crash dies two days after … – Citizen Times

ASHEVILLE – The Asheville Police Department said in a Feb. 17 news release that a passenger in a vehicle crash that happened in the early morning of Feb. 12 on Haywood Road has died.
The passenger has been identified as Teri Quannett Hughes, 35, who passed away at Mission Hospital on Feb. 14. Next of kin has been notified, the Asheville Police Department said in the release.
According to the Asheville Police Department, the crash happened at 2:18 a.m. on Feb. 12 at the 260 block of Haywood Road in West Asheville. A 2022 Dodge passenger vehicle traveling East on Haywood Road in a reckless manner attempted to turn left at the stop light and ran off the road, the release said. The vehicle then collided with the side of an unoccupied business building, and the vehicle caught fire.
The driver and two other passengers of the vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived. Hughes was the front passenger and remained at the scene due to injury. She was later transported to Mission Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries two days later.
