27-year-old man dies after stolen car crashes near Percy Priest Lake – WSMV 4

ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WSMV) – A stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee with five people inside crashed near Percy Priest Lake late Wednesday night, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
A passenger of the jeep died in the crash on Anderson Road, police said. The preliminary investigation indicates the Jeep, which had been reported stolen, was traveling northbound while speeding when a Hermitage Precinct officer tried to stop the vehicle, according to a Metro Police media release.
The Jeep fled and the officer did not pursue, the release. Later, the officer came to the intersection of Anderson Road and Old Anderson Road where to Jeep had hit a utility pole and guardrail.
The driver of the Jeep fled the scene after police arrived, the release said. A 27-year-old man died at the scene, according to police. Efforts are underway to notify his family. The other three passengers, ages 25, 22 and 21, were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
A handgun was recovered from inside the stolen Jeep, along with tools utilized to steal vehicles, according to the release. Crash Investigators are working to identify the driver that fled the scene.
