OWATONNA, Minn. — An SUV and a semi-truck collided on northbound Interstate 35 in southern Minnesota Sunday, leading to a chain reaction that caused four other vehicles to crash.
The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened at about 12:20 p.m. near Owatonna. Two women inside the SUV that crashed into the semi are seriously hurt. Three other people are hurt but expected to recover.

The northbound lanes of I-35 between Steele County Road 9 and West Central Avenue were closed for several hours. Traffic cameras showed a significant traffic backup following the crash.
This is the same stretch of highway where a 63-year-old woman from Aitkin was killed in a crash just a little over a week ago, when her car collided with another car in the northbound lane.
