1 dead, multiple injured after 2-car crash in Bloomfield – FOX61 Hartford

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. — Bloomfield police are investigating a fatal two-car crash that shut down part of Blue Hills Avenue Friday morning.
Police confirmed to FOX61 that one person had died and that there were multiple serious injuries as a result of the crash.
Two cars were traveling fast on the northbound side of Blue Hills Ave. around 5:16 a.m. when they got into a collision, police said. It happened between West Dudley Town Road and Old Windsor Road.
Both cars left the roadway; a Subaru Legacy struck a pole and a Volkswagen GTI Hatchback caught on fire after hitting a building.
The 33-year-old driver of the car that caught on fire was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
There were five people inside the car that struck the pole. A 23-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene, while four others, who are in their 20s, were taken to the hospital. Two of them have serious injuries, and two have life-threatening injuries.

Blue Hills Ave. and West Dudleytown Road were closed for several hours during the cleanup and investigations. The area has since reopened to traffic.
