1 dead in single-car crash east of Colorado Springs – KKTV

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Police say speeding played a role in a deadly crash that killed one in Colorado Springs early Sunday morning.
Investigators say that the driver was eastbound on Airport Road nearing the intersection with Murray just before 5:20 a.m. when they lost control of their vehicle. The car bumped into the median, then hit a curb, then clipped an electric pole, and finally came to a stop after hitting a parked car.
The driver was already dead when first responders got on scene. They were the only person in the vehicle and have not been identified at the time of this writing.
Airport Road was closed in both directions between Murray and Apollo Village Circle for several hours Sunday morning.
Investigators say they haven’t determined whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
